  1. I was excited to see a SQL Server podcast! I have a website which teaches SQL to beginners. If you are interested in contributing or doing a written interview let me know.

I would love to collaborate with you guys.

  2. Great show – have been listening for a couple of months now.

Are you planning to talk about ETL any time soon? It’s one thing (particularly for those on Microsoft SQL server ) that feels neglected . There are a ton of 3rd party tools , sure, but when all other Microsoft apps can talk to each other with ease via OLE , SSMS / SQL server seems way behind the curve.

In particular, just performing an openrowset on a 2007+ Excel file for example .

I’d be interested to hear your take on the whole 32bit/64bit issue when trying to get SQL server to use the correct DLL to read xlsx.

It seems something that, as yet, remains unsolved – every forum thread or blog ends without a solution to the whole ‘Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0’ error when running 64-bit servers.

    Keep it up guys!

    1. Hey John,

Thanks for the suggestion and the kind words!
We’ll talk about it in the next recording.

  3. Guy and Matan – I am Abhi working as database administrator. I listen to your podcast when driving to work and home.

I have a small request for you. Can you please talk about SQL server on VMware and suggest some good tips to improve performance, scalability and disaster recovery( from database standpoint).

    Thank you,
